The UIC Game, DePaul Takes Care of Business

DePaul visited the lovely UIC Pavilion on Hawaiian Shirt day to lay the smack down on crosstown pseudo rivals.

The Good

DePaul won, avenging last year’s incredible embarrassment of a loss.  For those with a short memory (which I hope all Demon fans have acquired over the last decade),  the UIC debacle was the worst defeat of the disappointing lost season of 2016-17.  It was DePaul’s only loss to a sub 200 program.  You do not want to lose to your Horizon league opponents any year, especially ones that share the same area code as your team.

It was a tight game through the 1st half, until DePaul went on a nice run at the beginning of the 2nd half to establish some breathing room, extending a 3 point lead to a 13 point league after 4 minutes of play.  The closest that the Flames came after that run was 6 point will around 4:30 left to play.

Max Strus had a Division I career high with 24 points on quality inside play.  Thus far he has been inconsistent for 3pt land.

The Bad

Marin Maric knocked knees.  Basically, another player hit his leg laterally, which can cause some definitely discomfort.  Let’s hope it is nothing serious.

The Demons were awful from 3pt land, shooting a pathetic 20% on 4-20 shooting.

Dunk of The Game

Fun Fact:  Dickey Simpson is Bullish on the Demons
